Compact Condo

We love to have fun with our creations, and sometimes the smallest spaces present the biggest opportunities! This very small galley kitchen underwent the transformation of a lifetime. Pushing against the edges of the space, we grew the kitchen while keeping the footprint almost unchanged. First, the fridge was pushed into the corner freeing the dining room side of the kitchen. We stretched out at the ceiling and down at the floor, but kept the center open except for a sliver of counter that extends out without invading. On the opposite side we wrapped the counter around the wall just enough to draw the eye out and provide a few extra inches of functional space.

We looked for a creative way to bring line to the face of the cabinets and avoid the regiment of symmetrical hardware. Using palm wood with a bevel, we created visual lines that also serve as the handles for the doors and drawers. Of course a dash of color helps to bring the space fully to life.
