Mid Mod Meets Modern

We sought to create a clean contemporary space with an element of organic contrast. In a true collaboration with the architect homeowners, we turned a frumpy, dark, closed off kitchen into a remarkable light filled, refined and organic space.

The construction process had the typical challenges that come with opening up space and modifying major structural components. The finish work was the biggest challenge; the glass tile with its curved elements required a skilled crafts person. The recessed cabinetry required precision drywall work, and each component had to come together seamlessly.

We removed the brick wall cooking station and turned a back room into a pantry adorned with a reclaimed Doug Fir countertop which we flamed with a blowtorch, wire brushed, and sealed. The floors are a conservation grade walnut which brings added warmth to the space.

This space is breathtaking because of its simplicity, openness, and layers of intricate detail.
