Sunny Addition with Hidden Half-bath
This addition with bathroom replaced an older, poorly built, breakfast nook off the kitchen. The curved bathroom wall converges at the top of the addition’s original arched entry to re-create this space with function and style. This creates the illusion of a hallway rather than a bathroom stuck between two spaces. Once past the bathroom, the space opens it’s sunshine walls, with room for a table and chairs. Two banks of windows take advantage of the eastern and southern exposure.
Beneath the black tiled bathroom floor is a radiant heat system using electric cable on an independent thermostat. Insulated walls reduce the amount of sound transference from the bathroom to the rest of the space and a super energy efficient Panasonic ultra quiet fan moves 70/cubic feet of air per minute out of the bathroom without making a sound. Two awning windows bring light and extra ventilation.
White subway tile is set on end to draw the eye up giving the illusion of a larger space. Cool mint-green walls rise to the ceiling making this small bathroom an oasis.
